Gilliatt is a carded wool yarn made from a blend of French white merino (Arles merino) and Portuguese black merino (Petra merino) raised for the welfare of animals and the enhancement of their wool.
All the manufacturing stages of this yarn are carried out in a short circuit (Belgium or Italy for washing, France for spinning, twisting and dyeing) with a constant desire for traceability and reduction of its impact on the environment.
Its natural bulk and the roundness of its structure make it an ideal yarn for knitting incredible cables, cozy jersey by the mile and anything that would make you want to snuggle up.
It is available in natural colors resulting from the mixture of brown and white fleeces and in a palette of subtly mottled dyed colors.
Gilliatt owes its name to the handsome constructive and obstinate dreamer of Victor Hugo's Workers of the Sea .
