When 12 of Lily's friends asked her to teach them how to knit, she drafted her own pattern to make sure that the gauge worked perfectly, the techniques were as simple as can be, it knit up quickly, and the finished object had a very clean, smart, upscale finish.

The result was THE BEGINNERS WELCOME HAT--a bottom up, all over 1x1 ribbed hat, with star-like decreases at the top. It works up so quickly and the end product is so refined, that it gives impressive results for an easy and fast gift knit, as well as for a first project, or to express the qualities of an extra special yarn!
