Eco Cashmere Vintage from Gepard is a new, delicious yarn that combines luxury with sustainability.
This 100% Cashmere is a blend of new, fine long cashmere fibers and recycled cashmere. The recycled cashmere comes from new yarn, unused knitted/woven products.
It is a nice old tradition in Italy, especially in the Prato area, to recycle leftover products from the textile industry.
If you come to Florence, take the train to Prato and go into their very nice textile museum. Here you can see an old instrument for scraping up textiles.
A note from Gepard:
Cashmere is a fiber than can unfold when you give it space. This yarn is already finely washed and then rolled into hanks. You can make your yarn even softer and fuller by steaming it. This means that it will be even more wonderful to knit with the yarn.
How to steam your yarn:
Take off the label and straighten your hank, tap it lightly so that all the threads are nicely loose. Use a wide soup pot with approx. 2 cm of water in the bottom and bring the water to boil. Place a metal sieve over the pot and place the yarn lightly and loosely in the sieve, only 1 hank at a time. Wait for 1-3 minutes until you can see that the yarn has grown in volume, and feel free to move the yarn gently along the way so that the steam is well distributed on the yarn. Hang your hank for airing so that the bit of moisture it now contains vapors off again. This takes approx a half an hour.

This yarn is not superwash treated. We recommend washing your knitted fabric in warm water with soap or a suitable detergent. If you wish to test the wool setting of your machine, we advise you to do so first with your sample.
