Join Dan from Bad Dogs Studio in this 3 hour workshop, where we will learn how to make a functional floor broom from start to finish. Participants will leave the workshop with at least one completed broom, and hopefully, the ability to make more.
Dan will start with a short introduction to broom-making and its history, including a foray into the shakers and his connection to them in Maine.
Then, jump into learning how to make a broom, select sorghum, a handle, hemp cord, and begin the process!
We would drill our handles, learn the starting and finishing techniques, discuss adding additional fibers/elements to a wrap, select colors, and learn how to stitch-clamp/flatten a finished broom. This segment would be interspersed with insights on technique, broom size, uses, etc.
Class TimeSaturday, November 18th from 9 am - 12 pm
