Top-Down Sweater Class (September 17th, 24th; October 8th, 22nd) with Megan Monroe

Learn to knit your first sweater during this 4 session sweater workshop. Spread out over the course of 4 weeks, this class covers everything you need to know to cast on and finish your first sweater. Using the DRK Everyday Sweater by Andrea Mowry (circular yoke construction) or White Mountain by Midori Hirose (raglan construction) as a jumping off point this series will be broken into 4 sessions. The classes will cover measuring yourself or your subject, gauge, ease, choosing your size and yarn, top down sweater construction and finishing techniques. This class is designed for the beginner knitter who is ready to try knitting their first sweater in a supportive environment. 

Class Times

Saturdays, September 17th, 24th; October 8th, 22nd from 10 am - 12 pm  

Materials (Not Included)

  • Sport-weight yarn for DRK Everyday Sweater by Andrea Mowry or worsted-weight yarn for White Mountain by Midori Hirose
  • Needles required for chosen pattern
  • Stitch gauge
  • Stitch markers
  • Measuring tape
  • Students will receive 10% off all class supplies
Students must be comfortable knitting and purling. Experience knitting in the round would be helpful but not necessary.

  • Yarn may need to be dyed. Place your order at least 1 week before class begins. 
  • Students should have yarn wound in cakes (if necessary) before class begins. 
Megan is a Portland, Or based fiber artist who knits samples and test patterns as well as for her own pleasure. She has been knitting for 20+ years. Megan is an ASI certified Wool Classer and self certified fiber nerd. When she’s not knitting, she’s running, baking, or thinking about starting a band.
