History of Cochineal and Making Cochineal Ink (Aug 31st) with Ondrea

In this workshop, learn about the historical and cultural importance of cochineal, a dye made from carminic acid produced by beetles that nest on prickly pear cactus. A cochineal nerd will guide you how to create natural ink from dried cochineal as well as how to create purples, reds, pinks, and oranges all by changing the pH of of the dye with household items. The concepts learned in this workshop can be applied to dying fabric and yarn.
