Happy Summer Solstice, my sweet subscribers and friends,
It is the longest day of the year. We are relishing our time in the sunlight and preparing ourselves for the rest of the year. I wish you the actualization of your summer goals and projects. I hope that you do everything you want, surrounded by positive vibrations and those you love. Bask in not only the sun, but personal growth and positive intentions.
The Ritual Dyes physical workspace continues to grow and become something we can soon share with you all. We are growing in our policies as well. In an effort to help meet the needs of our fiber community, I am implementing a sliding scale policy on all of our products. My current pricing structure is based on my commitment to keep production as local as possible, utilize quality materials and fairly compensate people that I work with. I feel confident that our products are of the highest quality and will last a good long time! However, I also want to ensure that there is accessibility to our product line for everyone who has an interest; I am experimenting with the following to help make that possible. Please review the guidelines and know that this scale is intended to be a starting point, inviting each of us to take inventory of our financial resources and look deeper at our levels of privilege. It is a way to challenge the classist and capitalist society we live in and work towards economic justice on a local level.
Get ready for the Easy as 1-2-3 Summer Make-Along!
Starting on June 21, check out the Ravelry Group for information on how to participate and have a chance to win prizes. I want you to be inspired by your stash - using 1, 2, or 3 skeins of Ritual Dyes yarn. What’s the perfect summer creation for you? Make sure to tag me with any projects @Ritualdyes and #RD123. The Make-Along will be moderated on Ravelry.
Details: The Make-Along will run from Summer Solstice - June 21 to The Fall Equinox - September 23. That’s 3 whole months to participate!
You must create a Ravelry project page and post in the forum with some project details to join. What yarn are you using? How long has it been in your stash? What project are you making? Check out some patterns in this ever-growing Ravelry bundle that would be so so good in Ritual Dyes. If you know how to tag your projects on Ravelry, use the tag RD123. There will be details on how to do this on the Ritual Dyes Ravelry Group.
You emotionally intelligent Cancer:
(June 21 - July 22)
This month’s colorway represents the moon-child that you are: shifting with the tides, and emotional while self-protective.
You are caring, nurturing and practical. The past is a large part of who you are. Like your symbol, the crab, you have a protective shell but appreciate affection and feeling that you are needed. Your feelings are important and one of the many things that draw in those around you. Your emotional intelligence and stability allow those who are insecure to look to you for examples of success.
Cancerians have a great instinct and are known for trusting their gut. Don't be hard on yourself when you feel stuck with a project that is not bringing you joy. Apologize to your inner new-knitter and approach the project with encouragement and love. Take a breath and step back in - everything is going to be alright.
Those of all signs will find themselves desiring affection and needing protection while the sun is in Cancer. Stay hydrated, put on sunscreen and use this breathing mantra to heal your inner judge:
“I breathe in safety and affection. I am filled with the confidence to learn. I breathe out insecurity and negativity”
Do you love the zodiac and horoscopes on the blog?
We have been having so much fun since last December and the winter solstice in creating the Astrological series for you. I hope you’re enjoying it too, and if you are, make sure to join the conversation on the blog and on the Ravelry group. What’s your sign? Are you true to your zodiac? What characteristics of your sign would you most love to see in that colorway? I look forward to your input and inspiration!
As always, thank you for your support in this woman-owned and operated small business. We appreciate your support tremendously!
